A Place to Serve

When Jesus showed His disciples what it meant to follow Him, He took off His cloak, wrapped a towel around His waist and washed His disciple's feet. Servanthood is part of what it means to be a Christian.  We have many different ways to serve at Risen Christ.  Below are just a few of the functioning ministries.  And...if you don't find a place for your gifts and talents, you can always start something new.  We consider ourselves a "permission giving" church.

At Church

There are various ways to serve at Risen Christ. From Church Council to Worship to Sunday School and the Coffee Bar, there is a place for everyone. Please talk with Pastor  for more information!

In the Community

Risen Christ stands as a beacon of faith with our fellow Christian brothers and sisters in the Fairport and Rochester area. There are countless ministries and areas to serve and reach out to our community.

Advent House

Located next door to Risen Christ, the Advent House is a comfort care home that provides an alternative living arrangement for the terminally ill when they can no longer be cared for in their home.  Volunteer help is needed in many areas including residential care, housekeeping, ofice work, properties and fund raising.  For more information on Advent House, visit adventhouse.org

 Flower City Workcamp

FCWC is a week-long camp (held during Spring Break) which brings the hope of Christ to inner-city neighborhoods.  The camp, coordinated by a group of area churches, provides opportunities for youth (grades 7-12) and adults to work in city neighborhoods, fixing up homes,  holding mini Vacation Bible Schools and mini sport camps. Volunteers work directly on homes, or in support areas such as providing food, transportation, and work supervision.  For more information: flowercityworkcamp.org

Perinton Food Shelf

Service to the Perinton community by collecting and distributing food to families in need is accomplished through the Perinton Food Shelf.  Volunteers help with the incoming donations and transportation of donations to the food shelf.  Additionally, Thanksgiving and Christmas "food baskets" are collected and delivered to individual famlies in need that live right here in Perinton.  For more information:  perintonfoodshelf.org

Community Lutheran Ministry

Community Lutheran is an outreach ministry in northeast Rochester, which provides hope to children and families living in the poorest section of the inner city.  The Community Center on Joseph Avenue offers after school program for students.  Volunteers are needed in a variety of areas.  During special hoildays, volunteers help in other ways providing Easter Baskets, serving meals at Thanksgiving and coordinating an "Angel Tree" at Christmas.  If you are interested in following the activities or donating to Community Lutheran Ministry, check out their new website at:  communitylutheranministry.org

Across the World

Risen Christ is committed to stand with churches across the world. Through support of missionaries and various forms of service we seek to make disciples of all nations.

Operation Christmas Child

Each year in the fall, individuals and families from our church and preschool pack dozens of shoeboxes with personal notes and photos, toys, toiletries, school supplies, craft items, stuffed animals, hats, socks, hair things, coloring books etc. for children in poor and difficult situations around the world. The boxes then go to Operation Christmas Child distribution centers where the story of Jesus in their own language is added in and then shipped out to the kiddos. We then track our boxes online to see where they go.

Lutheran Bible Translators

Lutheran Bible Translators seeks to serve God by making the Scriptures accessibly to people in their heart language. Did you know over one billion people do not have the Bible in their own language!
